Despite an impending landslide victory, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s second term in office could be cut substantially by a resilient Raila Odinga, says political commentator Aaron Moracha.

With Uhuru set to be declared winner in an election that saw several parts of the country boycotting, Odinga has vowed that he will ensure elections take place in 90 days.

And Moracha says Odinga’s quest could be possible given that he can mobilise over 100 MPs from his camp to resign, a move that could lead to another general election.

“He is not someone you can ignore given that there are a lot of loopholes in our constitution. He will however wait for Uhuru to be sworn in.

“If he mobilises 100 MPs to resign, this could lead to another general election where Uhuru will not participate,” he says.

While it is not clear what step Odinga will take, it is however clear that he will give his final stand on Monday as promised in his previous addresses.

Among other opposition he can take will be going back to the Supreme Court or causing civil disorder that could force dialogue.
