Kisii county health minister Sarah Omache has issued a stern warning to local hotel and canteens that will be found selling food in a filthy environment.

Her concern comes barely two weeks after a Cholera outbreak had been reported in various parts of the country.

Speaking in Kisii level six hospital, Omache said that it will force her health team to commence a crackdown in major hotels and streets to ascertain the health standards of food being sold to ‘wananchi.’

"In an effort to curb the spread of cholera in our county, clean environment and quality health sanitation should be taken into consideration," said Omache.

"a team of health workers will move from door to door to ensure that food sold to the public meets quality health standards," she added.

However, the minister confirmed that no cholera outbreak has been reported in Kisii town and its environs.
