The late Nakuru MCA Damaris Mbuthia will be buried tomorrow at Ol-Rongai village off Kabarak Farm in Nakuru County.

Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua has confirmed that he will be among VIPs attending the funeral of the late nominated ward representative.

Wangare died last weekend at MP Shah Hospital in Nairobi following a prolonged battle with breast cancer. She had just returned to Kenya from treatment in India and was showing signs of recovery and about to resume normal business. She was, however, suddenly taken ill and rushed to the MP Shah hospital in a coma where she died almost a week later.

According to the funeral programme, her body will leave the Umash Funeral Home near Pipeline estate at 8am for Ol-Rongai where the funeral service will start an hour later.

The burial committee, led by Visoi MCA Edward Gitau, held its final sitting at a Nakuru hotel last evening while other final burial arrangements were being made at the family’s Ol-Rongai home and at her Moi Flats house in Nakuru town.

High profile politicians are among those expected at the funeral, including Nakuru Senator James Mungai, the county's other three senators, the 11 MPs and their parliamentary colleagues and top TNA national leaders.

According to Gitau, the funeral will be used in a way he did not disclose to raise awareness about the dangers of cancer and how to contain it.

She will be buried just days after another cancer victim, Gladys Wanjiku, was buried at Turi near Elburgon.
