A Stakeholders meeting in Kisii county has warned of current threats to the area security fearing it was likely to aggravate unless urgent measures were collectively put in place.

The meeting which draw representatives from Nyumba Kumi, religious faiths and institutions the first one to be convened by the area National Police Service commanders and Directorate of CID was held at Kisii central police station canteen.

Speakers complained to the OCPD Francis Nguli who chaired the meeting about incidents that threatened prevailing security in the county.

Citing Kisii town and its environs,the stakeholders expressed their fear over resurfacing of murders, thuggery, robberies and drugs and alcohol abuse.

They blamed some security officers for failure to respond in time to distress calls and allowing the informal motorcycle transport operators to break the law with impunity.

The stakeholders further decried sale of illicit brews and operation of commercial sex workers openly as if the law did not exist.

They called for involvement of the county government in security maintenance in view of the threats from illegal gangs including Al shaabab.

Nyumba Kumi representatives who had been commended for volunteering to offer community service in matters security petitioned the national government to empower their members through the NYS under implementation in the county.
