Speaking in Eldoret town on Wednesday, Hassan said the criminals were nabbed by police at Mwanzo estate following a successful tip-off from residents.

“Security officers have intensified search on criminals who have been terrorizing residents within Eldoret. So far 10 criminals are in custody and will be arraigned in court to be charged” he said.

The County Commissioner further warned local youths against joining gang groups in the area saying the law will not spare them.

“Local youths who are jobless should venture into small businesses to earn a living instead of joining gang groups to steal from people. Police will arrest any criminal in the county to ensure people are safe,” he added.

Hassan also urged members of the public to report any suspected criminals to police so that they can be arrested to curb crime.

He challenged local leaders to engage youths to prevent them from associating with criminals saying police officers are committed to ensuring criminals are weeded out from the county.

"Traders should not fear for their safety because police are working around the clock day and night to keep off criminals from Eldoret town and its environs," he assured.
