Hell broke loose in Ukambani region when Kalonzo said he was ready to be President Uhuru Kenyatta’s ‘Mtu Wa Mkono’.

It is evident that Ukambani leaders were not happy to see a man of Kalonzo’s stature demeaning himself to such a position. The presidency is not for beggars.

It requires someone with a strong stand on matters of national interest.

Kalonzo has proven in the past that he can be swayed from one side to another.

He agreed to play second fiddle to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga before the 2017 general elections, a move that caused a political storm in Ukambani.

The late MP Francis Nyenze and other leaders had then insisted that it was Kalonzo’s turn to ascend to power.

They even threatened to mobilize the community against Raila until Kalonzo intervened.

In a shocking twist of events, Kalonzo and Raila differed after the latter's controversial swearing in at Uhuru Park in Nairobi.

Kalonzo was later perceived as a coward.

He has since been struggling to remain relevant in the national politics, but it is clear that all is not well.

The rebellion in his backyard leaves him a man with sleepless nights.
