Residents of Nyankongo Village, Kitutu Chache South Constituency in Kisii County are crying of raw sewage flowing into Riokombe river at Jogoo Kisii County.
The residents said the burst sewage has been flowing for the past two weeks continuously into the river whose water they depend on for domestic use.
"We are dying of diseases. The river whose water we depend on for domestic use is now a sewage. It has been flowing here for two weeks and nobody cares. We are now left dry with no water," one lady who didn't want to be named said.
The residents claim that sewage management has been a tragedy in Kisii. River Riokombe which connects to river Nyakomisaro, the main river in Kisii which flows all the way to Homabay then Lake Victoria has now turned into sewage.
Water being a devolved function, they are now asking the Kisii county government through the Ministry of water to come to their rescue adding that their children have been using the water unknowingly and are now suffering from skin diseases a risk to their lives.
"We ask Ongwae's government to help us. Our stomachs are aching. We are suffering. Let our governor kindly help us. Our children who swim in the River are dying of skin disease," bitterly said one resident by the name Onkoba.
