The inaugural ‘Senate Mashinani’ is scheduled for Eldoret town next week.

In a lengthy post on his official Facebook page on Thursday, Mandago said the Senators move will provide “a learning opportunity to the County staff and a lifetime experience to the people of NOREB region.”

Mandago is the chairman of the North Rift Economic Bloc (Noreb) that brings together 8 devolved units in the North Rift region.

“I take this early opportunity to welcome Honorable Senators, my colleague Governors and the members of the public to this inaugural committee and plenary 'Senate Mashinani' sittings in Eldoret from 24th to 28th September 2018, let's all participate,” noted the governor in his post.

Welcoming senators to Eldoret, Mandago took the opportunity to point out several achievements devolution had brought to the locals in infrastructure, vocational and early childhood education, health among others.

“Through devolution, Uasin Gishu County has experienced a notable socio-economic transformation that has seen the upcoming city of Eldoret, become a regional logistics and commercial hub,” he said.

In the one week sittings, the 67 Senators are expected to conduct their normal business at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly buildings where they are also scheduled to grill three governors from the North Rift, among them governor Mandago over audit queries.

The public will be allowed to follow the Senate plenary sessions at the Assembly's public gallery.
