On October 10, 2017, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior left President Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp jittery when he declared that the National Super Alliance (NASA) was not going to take it lying low if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) failed to agree to the irreducible minimums.

Speaking to journalists outside Parliamentary buildings, Kilonzo Junior said Kenyans were tired of the culture of stealing elections.

He said the opposition was determined to change the election history in the nation.

The senator spoke after the Supreme Court under the chairmanship of Chief Justice David Maraga nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto’s August 8, 2017 victory.

The nullification came after former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his running mate Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka moved to court challenging the outcome of the election.

The opposition argued that the election was marred by all sorts of illegalities and irregularities. Raila and his team, however, refused to take part in a rerun after IEBC failed to honor their demands.

The team felt that the members of the IEBC were not fit to conduct a free and fair election that could reflect the will of the People of Kenya.
