However, he has challenged the former Vice President to also play his role, advising him to use the remaining time to surround himself with able leaders who can help him realize the bid.

Speaking on Wednesday, Malala said that Mudavadi will need the backing of strong national leaders, among them former Premier Raila Odinga.

He advised Mudavadi to as well seek the backing of President Uhuru Kenyatta, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho for better results.

"Hakuna mtu mwingine ambaye anaweza mfanya Mudavadi awe rais kama si Raila. Yeye ashikane na Raila, Joho, Uhuru na Kalonzo, hao ndio watamfanya rais (nobody else apart from Raila can make Mudavadi president. Let him join hands with Raila, Joho, Uhuru and Kalonzo, they are the ones who can make him president)," he said.

The lawmaker was speaking on Milele FM's Kivumbi show on Wednesday morning, where he warned that Mudavadi will have to win the presidency in 2022 or forget about it wholly.

He said that though a good number of Western Kenya youthful politicians are behind him, they will be shifting allegiance after the elections towards one of them.

"Mudavadi ako na risasi moja, akimiss ni hivyo. 2022 ndio nafasi yake ya mwisho, akishindwa akina Malala, Osostsi (Godfrey) na Sifuna (Edwin) wako hapa watachukua (Mudavadi has only one bullet remaining, if he misses then he is done. This is his final chance. If defeated, then the likes of Malala, Osotsi and Sifuna are here ready to take over)," he added.

However, Mudavadi is yet to officiate his candidature.
