A woman and her 4-year-old daughter are currently fighting for their lives at Nyangena hospital in Kisii county after a failed suicide attempt.
Residents of Mosocho said the woman Faith Moturi quarreled with her husband accusing him of seeing another women outside the wedlock before attempting suicide.
"Faith quarreled with her husband before she picked their two kids and threw them into a water well in the homestead. She later threw herself into the water well so that she can die together with her kids," said Samuel Omache.
Mr Omache said the woman's husband alerted neighbors who arrived at the homestead and managed to rescued the woman and the two kids.
"They were rushed to a local hospital for treatment but, unfortunately one of the kids died on the way to hospital," said Omache.
Kisii Police Commander Martin Kibet said the woman and her daughter are responding well to treatment following the injuries they sustained.
"We are probing the matter to exactly know what led the woman to throw her kids into the water well and herself," he said.
He appealed to couples to solve their differences through peaceful means.
