EACC detectives surrendered five guns recovered from Obado's Nairobi home and three more from his Migori home during Tuesday's raid in search of documents over the mystery surrounding loss of close to Sh2 billion.

And detectives are said to have monitored his movements since Tuesday's evening before arresting him on Wednesday at Hilton Hotel where he was meeting friends.

"We have been monitoring his movements after it was established that he was operating the guns illegally. He settled at Hilton before being pounced on," said a detective in confidence.

At Hilton, Obado was holding closed-door meeting with his lieutenants and the agenda cannot be established.

Detectives drove him to Nairobi Area Police where he was being interrogated over the acquisition of the dangerous firearms and has since been joined by his lawyer Cliff Ombeta.

At a function in Nyamira on Saturday, Obado linked his political woes to Raila Odinga albeit indirectly after using the crocodile metaphor.

"Please pray for me. I am being wrestled by crocodiles. It's tough but through your prayers, I will sail through," he stated.

The Migori County boss will return to court in May 2019 when the murder trial of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno starts. He was directly implicated in the murder.
