Speaking during an interview on Radio Maisha on Tuesday, Mutua said that all leaders must be held accountable for their deeds.

He said that lifestyle audits will ensure a transparent and corruption-free nation.

The county boss appealed to all government officials to support President Uhuru Kenyatta in the war against corruption before he completes his second and final term in office.

“I don't understand why some leaders are against lifestyle audits. All they have to do is present themselves for lifestyle audit that will clear them of corruption claims. If you can account for all you have, then nobody will have a problem with you,” he said.

The second term governor also urged Kenyans to resist politics of tribalism. He insisted that the nation has continued to lag behind when it comes to development because of tribalism in various office levels.

Mutua said that leaders must be ready to serve Kenyans and not their tribes.

“We must strive to push tribal politics from Kenya. The #TumechokaGeneration wants to rally Kenyans towards brotherhood. My tribe is my neighbour or my colleague who we share common problems, not politics aligned by ethnic tribes,” he added.
