Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has launched a scathing attack at Kalonzo following the remarks. According to the politician, Kalonzo, who is considered one of the front-runners in the race of Presidency in 2022, should be ashamed of himself for making such weird suggestions.

Khalwale, who has endorsed Deputy President William Ruto, also said that it is unreasonable for the leader to use underhand tactics to try to block the second-in-command from ascending to power when that time comes.

“Kalonzo Musyoka's stupid comments on the removal of presidential term limit must be defeated! Then there were Atwoli's outbursts on Uhuru Kenyatta being too young to retire. Are these two being used to test the waters? Mr President, both Barrack Obama and Joseph Kabila are younger than you,” he wrote on his Twitter.

In a quick rejoinder, Kalonzo dismissed claims that he is rooting for Uhuru’s third term in power.  The Kamba political kingpin said that he was misquoted and insisted that he is still in the race for the presidency.

Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua had already asked him to back his candidature, arguing that he is the only aspirant from his region. Kalonzo has maintained that he is the right man to succeed Uhuru when he completes his term in office.

He is looking forward to Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga's support to rise to power.
