A lot of things have been said about legendary benga icon Joseph Kamaru who passed away last week.

While some have eulogised him as the greatest artist from Gikuyuland whose music will never fade, others have described him as a mentor who paved the way for them in the music industry.

One of those who have credited the 'Muhiki wa Mikosi' hitmaker for having immense influence in their lives, is popular Kameme FM presenter Muthoni Wa Wainaina famously known as Mzima Mzima.

The celebrated sports anchor says it was Kamaru who discovered her talent in music six years ago during a function hosted by Murang'a Women Representative Sabina Chege.

Speaking during her 'Rimwe na Kuuna' show on Kameme TV, Mzima recalled that Kamaru noted she had a great voice and encouraged her to venture into singing.

"I made a brief presentation which Kamaru liked and after the event he approached me and told me to try my hand in recording Mugithi and assured me I was destined for greatness," she narrated.

Mzima has already recorded various hits such as Mubea, Sponsor, Nguhikira Muthungu and others.

The radio presenter said since then she had been looking up to Kamaru as her mentor, revealing she recently visited him in hospital where he made another 'prophecy'.

"I have been visiting my music father at various hospitals and he said he was happy with what I was doing in music. Recently while at Avenue Hospital, Parklands, Kamaru told me I will one day become a politician," Mzima said.

If the 'prophecy' turns true, Mzima will walk in the steps of former radio presenters who have embraced elective politics such as Sabina Chege, her Kiambu counterpart Gathoni wa Muchomba and Gatundu North MP Anne Kibe.
