Well, the reason that might have led to the least number of players being nominated for the award is the quality of players the club boasts of.

Gor Mahia Football Club is known for having best players as far as Kenya Premier League is concerned. The club is superbly fitted with Kenya’s top players, making its first 11 and second 11 squad completely solid. The club seems to have above average players.

Throughout the season other Kenya Premier League clubs found it hard to beat Gor until Bandari scattered its unbeaten trend. It might have appeared a smooth run for Gor Mahia but for the rest, the season was so intense forcing players to work extremely hard.

Gor Mahia players Harun Shakava and Joash Onyango both will battle for the defender of the year award among three other KPL players as coach Dylan Kerr sets to fight for coach of the year award.

Gor Mahia forward Jacques Tuyisenge will battle in the golden boot award category, while the club will come up against Sofapaka FC and Kariobangi Sharks in the Fairplay Club of The Year Award.

The 2018 KPL list of nominees were prepared by team captains and coaches on Thursday 18th October 2018 at the KPL offices.
