General Service Unit officers were deployed to Kalonzo's Karen home while Administration Police are said to be guarding Yatta and Tseikuru homes.

Mr Musyoka, lost his security last year during the hotly contested presidential elections as the government moved in to tame him with Raila Odinga.

And at Kitui on Friday, President Uhuru Kenyatta hinted a possible new assignment for Musyoka, weeks after Raila was appointed to AU as special envoy.

"I am grateful that Raila has been given a job by AU … He will be able to contribute here and don’t you think he will bring some money to Kenya? My brother Kalonzo should (also) help us to bring the country together and foster peace for all Kenyans and even internationally. Every leader has something to contribute … all we need is to give each other space and respect one another!” President Kenyatta said.

At the funeral, Kalonzo said: "From today, in front of this crowd and before the clergy, I want to ask that no one come between President Kenyatta and me. Let no one come between my children and the President's children. From today, I am President Kenyatta's right-hand man."https://mobile.nation.co.ke/news/politics/Kalonzo-gets-back-security-detail/3126390-4848898-item-1-k2x1w7/index.html.

For months now, Kalonzo has strongly supported President Uhuru Kenyatta's handshake with Raila Odinga, adding that the move was necessary for the country's stability.

During Uhuru's trip to China last month, Kalonzo's presence in Beijing escalated speculations that his appointment to government is inevitable.
