The Bungoma senator said the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) needs to put in place proper mechanisms that will guarantee fairness in the April 25 polls.

Speaking at the party headquarters while naming their candidate for the seat, Wetang’ula said IEBC must ensure that election is conducted with integrity.

He added that the process should be fair and transparent to give the residents of Wajir West their preferred candidate.

Ford Kenya named Nairobi businessman Daud Mohammed Ali who will vie for the seat.

“The electoral body is expected to be fair to the people of Wajir by ensuring that the polls are above board. IEBC must ensure that the election is conducted with integrity to give the residents of Wajir West their preferred candidate,” said the senator.

Ford Kenya’s Mohammed will face off with Jubilee Party’s Mohamed Kolosh, Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) Mohamed Yusuf and KANU Ibrahim Sheikh.

The Wajir West seat fell vacant after Kolosh lost his seat when the Supreme Court in January nullified his election on grounds that he was not validly elected.
