A man is living in fear after witches smeared human waste on his doo on Tuesday night in Nyaramba, South Mugirango in Kisii County.
Fred Obure said at 11 pm he heard cats crying outside and suspected that witches had come to his home.
“I was asleep when I was awoken by cats crying outside. I knelt down to pray but the cats continued making noises for one hour. I picked a spear and went to open the door only to find human waste smeared all over,” he said.
Obure who lives alone after his wife divorced him 2 years ago said he saw the cats disappearing into the darkness.
“I alerted neighbors who came and saw the human waste. I suspect my brother’s wife who we have been at loggerheads with to be the person behind this but I leave everything to God to punish her,” he said.
Locals condemned the incident and said witchcraft must stop.
“We can’t continue living like this. Witches must give us a break and whoever who is practicing witchcraft must surrender his life to God before the return of Jesus Christ,” said Marisela Nyaboke.
Area assistant chief Enock Nyagaka said a public baraza will be held on Thursday to discuss the matter.
