The patients especially women at the maternity wing are the most affected.

According to Joan Kemunto, one of the patients, personal effects such as toiletries and money has been going missing from their handbags at the facility.

"We have been losing our personal items such as thermos, toiletries, clothes and money. Efforts to look for the missing items have been in vain because no one has been caught behind the theft of our personal items," Kemunto noted on Monday at the facility.

Another victim Mary Nyarenchi claimed they have reported the matter to the hospital management but, nothing has been done.

"No one from the hospital management has intervened so that our lost items can be recovered. We are not going to continue losing items which we buy using our own money," she stated.

The facility's Chief Executive Officer Enock Ondari, however, said security has been tightened up to ensure no patient loses items.

Ondari assured patients that the matter is in good hands and a probe is ongoing to nab the thieves stealing their personal effects.
