A 28-year-old woman is nursing serious injuries in hospital after she was allegedly beaten by 2 men who wanted to rape her.
This happened on Thursday evening in Magwagwa, Nyamira County.
Locals said the woman, Vivian Kemunto was returning home at 7 30 pm from a shop when she met two men who dragged her into the nearest maize plantation with an intention of raping her.
“Kemunto left my shop to her home after I sold her salt. 10 meters away I heard her screaming. I mobilised residents who teamed up and rushed to the scene. They found the woman lying down unconscious,” said a shopkeeper Robert Onyoni.
Onyoni said on arrival at the scene, the woman was in a pool of blood.
Her rapists inserted a spoon into her private parts after she resisted to be raped.
Area local Assistant Chief Alfred Nyaoga said the woman sustained neck and thigh injuries during the ordeal and she is currently receiving treatment at Nyamira county hospital.
The administrator said the rapists are still at large but they are being trailed.
“The rapists managed to escape when they heard residents approaching the scene after their ill plan failed. We will arrest them because we already have crucial information about them,” he said.
He said one of the suspects is the woman’s nephew who is a bhang addict.
