Machakos Deputy Governor Francis Maliti has said the residents who suffered colonial mistreatment and injustices will receive compensations.
Addressing members of the Muindi Mbingu Memorial Group on Friday, Maliti said the county government is committed to ensuring all the victims are compensated.
"I assure the group that the Machakos County Government is committed to seeing that you are duly compensated," Maliti said.
Maliti met members of the group at Mutituni in Ngelani Ward.
The group has been pursuing compensation for thousands of livestock taken away from the community by the colonial government in 1937 among other injustices.
He said the Kamba community should be paid off since other communities have been compensated across the country.
"Other communities have been compensated, we will not be left behind. We will pursue the matter until we see results," Maliti said.
Land injustices, rape and other mistreatments are among the things which Kenyans went through under the colonial government.
Maliti urged the locals to shun negative mentality and work with the county government to help the poor and address such issues amicably.
"We are determined to make Machakos a great county. So, I urge you to stop complaining too much and give us support," Maliti added.
