The burial ceremony of slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno was marred with cases of drama and emotions as leaders, family and mourners convened to bid her goodbye.

It began with slight trouble from her fellow students who disrupted the event at Magare village in Homa Bay County for close to fifteen minutes as they prayed for her and her unborn baby.

When her time came, Sharon's mother Melida Auma gave an emotional speech, calling upon her spirits to punish her killers.

She urged her (Sharon) to keep an eye on them and not allow them any peace, adding that she was just asleep but her spirit is still around and conscious.

"Go in peace my baby girl. I can see you lying there. I know you are not dead but just asleep. Please keep an eye on those who killed you. Don’t allow them any peace. My daughter is not  dead,” she was quoted by the Standard.

Donned in green outfits, the plaintive Auma who was being calmed by family members and her SDA colleagues named Sharon's unborn baby 'Mashaka'.

She mourned her daughter as a brave and respectful girl, expressing hopes that her killers will be brought to book.

“These killers have robbed me of a beautiful daughter, a friend. May Justice be done to her and her unborn child –baby Mashaka, who was brutally killed inside her womb," she remarked.

Sharon who was found murdered in a thicket near Oyugis town was seven months pregnant at the time of her demise.

Her death has since been largely blamed on Migori Governor Okoth Obado with whom she was in a romantic relationship with.
