Kanjama says that the family is living in fear since some of the alleged suspects linked to the case are yet to be arrested and presented to court.

The city-based lawyer further wants the courts not to release two suspects who are already charged with the attempted murder.

Responding to a fresh pre-bail report tabled in court on Wednesday, Kanjama said that the two suspects, Hussein Aden and Juliet Njoki, should be held in custody until key witnesses testify in the case.

He said that the two accused persons have connections and are a threat to the safety of the family and even Mukhtar.

“The accused persons are working for powerful people and this court should not release them on bond or bail,” he told Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi on Wednesday.

The two accused persons are charged with attempting murder on Mukhtar and conspiring to eliminate lawyer Kanjama.

They have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Early this month, the court had granted the accused persons  Sh1 Million bond and alternative cash bail of Sh500, 000.

However, Mukhtar lawyers moved to the High court challenging the pre-bail report that was used to grant the suspects bail.

To weeks ago, High Court Judge Grace Ngenye, cancelled their bond pending submission of a fresh pre-bail report.

This comes as detectives say that the probe into the attempted murder is still ongoing.
