Ms Wangui graduated with a degree in Computing and Information Technology (CIT) from Multimedia University in December 2018.

Wangui's friends and fellow comrades have eulogised her as jovial and hardworking, as they continue to relay their condolence messages through social media.

“DEATH, DEATH, DEATH you are so cruel, I didn't know this was the last time I was meeting you face to face. It's with deep sorrow that I have learnt about the demise of this my great one: Wachira Ann Wangui who died in the KIKOPEY 2NK SHUTTLE ROAD Carnage. What scares me more is that we won't hike again, we won't go for residential projects anymore, you won't help me restore my laptop's technical hitches anymore, no anymore of your lifts. From the class of 2018 CIT MMU. You were much more than a friend to me. The angels are already watching over you. REST IN ETERNAL Peace KUI,” one of the students posted on Facebook.

Ann was travelling in a matatu belonging to the 2NK shuttle company when a truck rammed into the vehicle, killing 11 passengers on the spot.

The 12th passenger died while receiving treatment at the Gilgil Sub-County Hospital.
