Ayacko’s name emerged alongside a host of other former politicians who were on Friday picked following President Uhuru Kenyatta’s changes in his government.

Speaking to the press on hours later, however, the former Sports Minister turned down the appointment, noting that he is keener on representing his Migori county people in any other capacity.

‘’I am ready to serve the great people of Migori either as a ward rep, MP, senator or governor and that is where my focus is,’’ Ayacko told a local daily.

He, however, went ahead to thank the President for the same, going ahead to as well express his gratitude to opposition leader Raila Odinga who seemingly used his newfound friendship with the head of state to influence the decision.

He lauded both the President and the former Prime Minister for the ‘’ honour they bestowed on him’’.

After rejecting the post, State House replaced Ayacko’s name with that of former Kasipul Kabondo Member of Parliament Paddy Ahenda who hails from Homa Bay county.

Other changes included the replacement of the embattled former Youth Affairs Principal Secretary Lilian Mbogo with the less-known Francis Owino.
