Emerging reports indicate that some or all the terrorists who carried out the Dusit D2 Hotel attack might have been living at the hotel for some time.

According to police sources, the Al Shabaab militants might have had either themselves or their accomplices operate from within the high-end hotel days to the attack, reports the Standard.

This follows the discovery by officers from the bomb squad and Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) who recovered a box of explosives in one of the rooms.

This comes as the police continue to comb the premises in search of evidence that might be used in investigations and explosives that might have remained after the attack.

The police believe that the room was used to assemble the weapons used by the suicide bomber who blew himself up near the Secret Garden restaurant.

The bomber who was apparently at the scene earlier than his colleagues is captured on CCTV cameras strolling to the garden at 3:12 pm, 18 minutes before the remaining team arrived.

However, the police are yet to release the identity of the five terrorists, four of whom were eliminated early the next day on the seventh floor of the building by the elite Recce squad.

Al Shabaab has since confirmed its involvement in the attack.
