Trouble began when Mr Mariba, who took over from Isaiah Nakoru barely a month ago, arrived with Matiang'i in the company of County Speaker Moffat Teya.

And a section of rowdy youths literally evicted him from the seat preserved for the Speaker, just adjacent to Governor John Nyagarama's seat.

"You can't eject the government. We are the government. That most be clear," he said as all fell to deaf ears of youths who ensured that Mr Teya had taken the seat.

But all cooled down when Dr Matiang'i took over to podium where he formally introduced his team, jokingly warning the crowd to be careful on future when handling county officials.

"I saw most of you don't know the County Commissioner. He is our eyes and ears on the ground. Next time you must know these people. They are the government."

The entire leadership was mourning the death of Andrew Nyachwaya, the father to Nyamira County Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi.

Afterwards, Mr Mariba promised to work with county leadership to ensure service delivery to the people of Nyamira. He also admitted that many residents are yet to know him.
