The traders in the market famously known as 'Marikiti' were protesting on Thursday morning over the alleged harassment by county askaris and the arrest of their chairman.

Through his official Twitter handle, the MP, popularly known as Jaguar, was the first one to break the news.

"Come visit me at Karen hospital, broke my leg at Marikiti market when fighting with county officers who were harassing traders," he posted.

The tweet from the musician-turned-politician attracted mixed reactions:

Arap Njoroge remarked: "I thought you could say Mama Lucy hospital."

Benard Konya said: "An MP is not supposed to run on the streets with traders but should take a Bill to Parliament to protect the traders from constant harassment by the askaris."

Lydia Leposo had this to say: "Quick recovery Mhesh."

Mercy Dollar stated: "Onyali, were you elected to fight? Anyway pole!"

"Lol...is that part of your job description?" posed Aluda Boni.

"@RealJaguarKenya good leaders don't show their might by fighting kanjo. Instead, make laws which protect the rights of those hawkers. Otherwise, we could have easily let you be an activist than an MP," posted Humphery Moturi.

Emmanuel Ouma said: "Stop fighting. Legislate we ni mheshimiwa."

"The problem of electing senseless leaders. He is a lawmaker he can use the constitution. Otherwise bora uhai," said Sparta Kallah.

"Quick recovery Mhesh," said Mukuha Mukuha.

Michael Mamati Junior posted: "He was elected to defend them through legislation not in the streets."

Peter Njeri posed: "Uko ward gani?"
