They range from radio presenters to comedians and pastors who are well known and have a big fan base.
They are, however, different from their colleagues in their respective fields as they claim to be 'doctors and professors'.
Below is a list of Gikuyu celebrities with 'Dr and Prof' titles. They, however, have not presented any evidence of graduating with the same.
1. Dr Man Nyari
He is a Kikuyu gospel music artist who goes by the name Njuguna Wa Gicheha alongside being a comedian-turn-presenter at Kameme FM.
Nyari's journey to radio started through a once popular Kameme FM radio drama where he went by the same name. He is the host of the popular Kameme FM Saturday morning show 'Njanjo Ya Muturire' that is also simulcast on Kameme TV.
2. Bishop Dr JJ Gitahi
He started off simply as Pastor JJ Gitahi and is most popular for his lively adult family radio talk show that airs on Inooro FM every Saturday evening.
He graduated with a pastoral studies diploma from Kenyatta University some few years ago. About five months ago, the Bishop received a warm welcome from his church members after he jetted back from the US, where he is said to have graduated with a doctorate degree.
3. Prof Hannington Mugweru
His real name is Mucheru Wa Kaboi and has worked as a news presenter at both Kameme FM and Inooro FM.
His star on radio, however, shone brightest under the 'Prof/Dr/Hannington Mugweru' stable on which he used to comically teach his then Inooro FM listeners on various trending topics.
4. Apostle Dr James Maina Nganga
He is the controversial city pastor who shot to the limelight after his car was involved in a fatal accident along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway that left one person dead. Nganga was acquitted but the Director of Public Prosecution in May this year challenged the pastor's acquittal in the case in which he was charged with dangerous driving.
