Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Sunday led other leaders in commemorating the death of his father Jaramogi Oginga Odinga during a memorial service of his 25th death anniversary.

During the service which was held at the St Stephens Anglican Church of Kenyan (ACK) church in Kisumu, Raila termed the celebrated freedom fighter as a selfless continental man whose actions and spirit remains alive in the country and across Africa.

He said that his father's continue to inspire Kenyans and the millions spread across the continent.

Present were other members of the Oginga family and fellow politicians, most of who are Raila's allies from across the nation.

 Rangwe lawmaker Lilian Gogo, Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi and his Alego Usonga counterpart Samuel Atandi among others were the leaders who attended the service.

Jaramogi died while being treated at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu in January 1994 before being flown to the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.

He was resting at his Milimani Estate home in Kisumu before being taken ill.
