Soy MP Caleb Kositany said Raila played a role in the collapse of the sugar industry in the country, and must be put to task even as a probe into the contraband sugar continues.

Speaking in Eldoret town on Sunday, Kositany said he will be pushing for the committee to summon Raila once they resume sittings.

“I want to tell the committee of Agriculture and I shall be tabling this when we resume the house, we want them to summon Raila to come and tell us whether he has cleared the Mumias Sugar debt or not as he is among the individuals who played a role in the collapse of the sugar industry,” said the legislator.

He further hit out at Raila following his recent claims that Members of Parliament were a stumbling block in the probe against graft.

The first-time MP said Raila should use his representative in Parliament to air his grievances instead of demonizing the work of parliament in funerals.

“We shall not allow the demonizing of the parliamentary committee by people who are not represented in the house. Raila has an MP he elected, who is Nixon Korir, let him talk to him so that he presents his grievances to the committee,” said Kositany.

The MP further defended a report by the Committee on Agriculture over the probe of contraband sugar saying it was merely and preliminary report “and nobody should comment about it.”
