Key political players both in Jubilee and the opposition Nasa coalition have been reaching out to President Uhuru Kenyatta to sack his deputy over alleged links with mega corruption scandals. These calls are swiftly gaining momentum, with the Siaya Senator James Orengo revealing plans to sponsor an impeachment motion against the DP.

As if this is not enough, Raila Odinga Junior has further delved into the matter, defending Orengo's move.

"Senior Counsel James Orengo is within his right to bring a motion of no confidence just like any other Kenyan can do, it doesn't necessarily have to be a position of his party ODM," Raila Odinga Junior tweeted.

With these major developments, there have been rife speculation as to who might be picked to replace DP Ruto if the alleged impeachment motion successfully sees the light of the day.

With the infamous handshake receiving many endorsements, it has been rumoured that the opposition chief Raila Odinga could be the next man in command. Many feel that the Uhuru-Raila truce might have contributed to the steadily rising calls for the president to sack his deputy.

Amid all these, pertinent questions still remain unanswered as to whether the courts or even the parliament has the mandate to remove a president's running mate elected by over 40 million Kenyans.
