Ngirici on Friday asked DP Ruto not to focus on the debates and propaganda being peddled around his 2022 bid.

The Kirinyaga Women Rep stated that DP Ruto has what it takes to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta when his term comes to an end in 2022.

“There is a lot of propaganda being fueled around and I urge DP Ruto not to listen to it but focus on the Jubilee development agenda,” said Ngirici while addressing journalists in Kirinyaga Town on Friday.

Ngirici claimed that there is a plot by some people to make Uhuru and Ruto political enemies ahead of the 2022 polls.

There has been a raging debate on whether Mt Kenya voters will honour their pledge to support DP Ruto in 2022.

The debate was recently reignited after a Kiambu musician, Kimani Wa Turacco, released the controversial song 'Hatuna Deni Ya Mtu, Kitaeleweka' in which he states that voters in the Mount Kenya region will not back Ruto in his 2022 presidential bid since they owe him nothing.

Ruto, however, put an end to the debate noting that his support for Uhuru in the 2013 and 2017 elections was not a political debt that should be paid by Mt Kenya voters when he runs for president in 2022

“There has been debate doing rounds on who owes who what... I want to remind leaders what Paul says in Romans 13:8; Owe no man anything except the debt of love for one another. That is the debt that all of us have, to love one another; no person, no community, no section of Kenya, owes anybody, including myself, anything,” said Ruto during a service at the All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi.

Among the leaders from the Mt Kenya region who have assured the DP of their support in 2022 include MPs Kimani Ichungw'a (Kikuyu), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Kanini Kega (Kieni) and Senators Kimani Wamatangi (Kiambu) and his Murang'a counterpart Irungu Kang'ata.
