A couple of weeks ago, Uhuru signed an executive order which automatically elevated Dr Matiang'i as the 'super minister', a move that caused jitters in DP William Ruto's camp.

And at Kitutu Masaba on Friday, Matiang'i confirmed that the president is only interested to see things moving on the ground, adding that his team will not spare detractors.

"H. E Uhuru Kenyatta called me and gave me three instructions; work, work and work. That is what I will exactly do. I am only interested to work with leaders who are focused.

"I am not a politician and I know most of them like peddling rumours. However, those who are ready to serve the people will benefit all the time. The only business the president told me is to work for the people."

Earlier, Matiang'i moved mourners with his ability to sing as a choir master and solicitor. While taking to the podium, he was joined by several mourners.

Gusii leaders led by Governor John Nyagarama on Friday lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta following his move to elevate Matiang'i as the chairman of a powerful cabinet sub committee in charge of development.

"I want to thank H. E Uhuru Kenyatta for this wonderful elevation. We shall move together as a team and there is no doubt about that," he said.
