President Uhuru Kenyatta's Nyamira chief campaigner Walter Nyambati could after all withdraw Supreme Court case agaisnt Governor John Nyagarama, it has now emerged.

In July, Appeals Court sitting in Kisumu dismissed his petition on grounds that it lacked merit.

Even though he has not formally launched appeal at Supreme Court, he has however given notice of appeal.

"There are ongoing talks with the governor and chances are that he's likely to withdraw the case.

"I cannot give more details but we are likely to have a handshake. This matter could rest soon," said one of his lawyers, who spoke in confidence.

Mr. Nyambati narrowly lost in 2017 polls having managed 59,340 votes to Nyagarama's 65,500.

So vicious was the battle that at he point, Uhuru promised to have Nyagarama's victory overturned at High Court.

The latest turn of events could be a massive victory for Nyagarama, who has often accused Nyambati of Sabotaging development.
