Residents of Erera area within Kisii town were left with a rude shock on Friday after a man sent away his wife for attending a night disco in the ongoing Kisii Agricultural Show.
Witnesses said the woman, Wilkester Moraa, who hails from Marani abandoned her husband who was sleeping on Thursday night and left to attend the disco at Erera.
"Moraa lacks respect to her husband, Edward Ongaga. She moves around with unmarried women who have introduced her to prostitution. She has been sent away by her husband and let her go to the streets and operate as a commercial sex worker," said a local Amos Onditi.
Onditi said efforts by the local assistant chief Abel Orina to have the man solve the matter with elders didn't bear fruits.
"Moraa left the disco at 6 am and found her husband awake. When questioned where she was coming from she lied that she had gone to sleep at a hospital where her cousin is admitted but later after a thorough beating she admitted that she attended a disco with her friends where they drunk alcohol and danced," said Orina.
Orina urged the married couple to live in peace and ensure their differences are solved amicably by involving local elders and government officials.
He said the man refused to forgive his wife and she had to pack all her belongings including old bedding and left to an unknown place.
