Former Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Commissioner General John Munge is dead.

Munge had been hospitalized at Nairobi hospital before he succumbed while undergoing treatment on Wednesday.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has led the nation in mourning the demise of Munge. 

The exact cause of his death remains unclear.

Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in power, eulogized the deceased as someone who played an immense role in transforming this nation. 

He said that the death is not only a huge blow to the family but also entire nation. 

He further referred to the deceased as a patriot who was determined to make Kenya a better place for humankind before his untimely death.

 “In his condolence message to the family, relatives and friends of the late Munge, President Kenyatta said the country has lost a patriot who served Kenyans with integrity. President Kenyatta prayed to God to comfort the family at this difficult period of mourning,” read Uhuru's message.

Munge will be remembered because of his professionalism in business matters. 

He was among the founders of the Shah Munge and Partners Stock Brokers. He opted to quit his position at the KRA in March 2003.
