Speaking during a TV interview recently, ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna questioned the source of Ruto's wealth, wondering how it was possible for the DP's business to keep flourishing despite the tough economic times.

“How can somebody who is responsible for a country that is failing, be doing so well in his private business? How comes that this business success cannot be translated into the country so that we all prosper? And when you ask, you are told that he is an astute businessman,” said Sifuna.

In a rejoinder on Sunday, Ruto said he should be allowed to continue supporting churches as some of his critics spend their money on witchcraft.

"Other times I am threatened by people who ask why do you go to church? Why do you contribute for churches? Why do you buy furniture for churches? But if you can investigate these people questioning my expenditure on churches, you will realise they use their money at night," said Ruto.

"Sometimes they use their money for witchcraft. At night they take their money to witch doctors unlike us who bring our money to churches in broad daylight for God's work. Because we do not question why they spend their money on witchcraft, they should also leave us alone and allow us to spend our money on God's work," said DP Ruto at the Kayole AIPCA Patanisho Church.

The video which was shared on the United States of Kiambu Facebook page elicited mixed reactions among residents.
