Both leader were to share podium during the funeral of Ndemo Nyagarama, the eldest son to Governor John Nyagarama.

A police source says intelligence reports had indicated a possible heckling by ODM supporters whose dominant presence was evident.

"The police were aware of heckling that would have humiliated the minister.

"He was informed of the plans by ODM supporters and had to change his itinerary. Initially, he was to fly to Bobasi then come for the funeral," said the source in confidence.

For at least ten minutes, Matiang'i made a stopover before jetting to Bobasi for a fundraiser.

Although the funeral was eclipsed by high octane politics between ODM and Jubilee leaders, only Nyamira deputy governor Amos Nyaribo was heckled by residents who accused him of intimidating workers.
