The man was arrested at his home in Umbui Village in Gichugu Constituency, Kirinyaga county, and booked at the Kianyaga Police Station where he will be held for 10 days as the police seek more evidence against him.

The incident was confirmed by Gichugu OCPD Anthony Mbogo who said that his officers are seeking answers on where he got the gun which he termed as 'powerful'.

“We need time to know how he obtained the powerful gun and where the gun is,” the police boss told the Standard.

The police said that the gun was not found at the time of the arrest, adding that judging by the Facebook photos, the gun is normally used by the police and is not entrusted with civilians.

He added that the suspect is being investigated over possible involvement in a chain of violent robberies in the area.

This comes only months after another man posing as a garbage collector was also arrested after being pictured with a pistol in Nairobi's Pipeline Estate.

The man was arrested after his photos leaked on social media, after which officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations nabbed him.

However, his identity and charges pressed against him remain unknown to date.
