Kikuyu landed in jail after he predicted former President Mwai Kibaki’s rise to power.

The politician was taken to jail for six months after he made the predictions.

While he was enjoying drinks with some of his friends, Kikuyu said he hoped one day there would be a change in power, adding that Kibaki was destined for great things.

Speaking during a past interview in Machakos town, the politician said he was hopeful that Kibaki will not forget him.

Kikuyu said KANU was the only political outfit in the nation at that time and he was hoping that there would be a change in the leadership of this country for the sake of development.

“Kanu was the only party then. As a new MP, I felt I was the new blood that was to correct the wrongs of the regime. It was unheard of for people to question authority, but I felt I was the change that people needed. So, as I sat with my friends, former Machakos mayor Peter Muia Ndunda and councilor Peter Tuva Malatu, we found ourselves debating the unmentionable,” he said.

Moments later, Special Branch agents were looking for him.

Kikuyu also revealed that he was among the students who led strikes at Kenyatta University and the two protested the murder of J.M Kariuki.
