The four lawmakers include Bomet Central MP Ronald Tonui, Bomet East MP Beatrice Kones, Konoin MP Brighton Yegon and Bomet Senator Christopher Langat.

Area Governor Joyce Laboso shortly addressed the gathering before handing over to Deputy President William Ruto who invited President Uhuru Kenyatta to speak.

Uhuru said the institution, which was rooted during former Governor Isaac Ruto's regime, would open job opportunities and businesses to the locals.

And shortly after his address, the four walked out leaving Uhuru and other guests behind, with sources saying that they were displeased for being omitted from the programme.

They are also said to be furious with manpower in the institution, claiming that 'outsiders' were considered for the employment at the expense of locals.

Bomet University is the first ever institution of High Learning to be commissioned by President Uhuru Kenyatta since he took over in 2013.

Earlier, the president had commissioned equipment to KCC in Sotik. After the university event, Uhuru proceeded to Bomet Green Stadium for inaugural ceremony of Lake Region Economic Bloc expo.
