Contagious Mau Forest dispute and employment of non locals in newly inaugurated Bomet University precipitated protest that was waged by four legislators in the South Rift county, it has been established.

The four lawmakers; Bomet Central MP Ronald Tonui, Bomet East MP Beatrice Kones, Konoin MP Brighton Yegon and Bomet Senator Christopher Langat stormed out of President Uhuru Kenyatta's function shortly after the Head of State's speech on pretext that they were denied chance to address locals.

"They had genuine concerns but at wrong forums. They wanted to address Mau Forest dispute which the government is determined to solve and the governor couldn't allow it," a senior employees in Bomet County confirmed.

He added: "Issues like discrimination in employment can be addressed at the local level. It is quite wrong to wait for inauguration of Lake Region Economic Bloc to start raising such issues. That is why they walked out."

Nevertheless, unmoved Uhuru, in the company of deputy president William Ruto moved on to address a gathering  at Bomet town before proceeding to Bomet Green Stadium for LREB expo.

He said: "We must work together as leaders to spur economic growth. The government is especially putting focus on dairy and tea farming to help our farmers get good returns."

In September, at least three people were killed along Nakuru-Narok boarder over May Forest as two communities clashed.
