A re-known businessman from Central Kenya with close association with State House was on Wednesday in Mombasa and among people he met was Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.

Chris Kirubi, who runs a series of prominent businesses in Kenya and outside the country met Joho who he described as his close friend when he jetted to the Coastal town.

Kirubi is among billionaire businessmen from Central Kenya said to be close to State House and it is still unclear what he discussed with the county chief.

He confirmed his meeting with the former Kisauni MP on his official Twitter account.

"It was a pleasure meeting you my friend Hassan Ali Joho. I look forward to our continued partnership in developing and investing in the Coastal region. When we work together, great things happen," Kirubi said.

Kirubi is one of the single largest shareholders in the recently opened Two Rivers, a multi-billion shilling shopping mall that was launched in Nairobi.

He owns shares in some of Kenya's reputable companies including Kenya Airways and Safaricom. He also singly owns Capital FM and manages shares in other companies listed at the Nairobi Stock Exchange.

When Kirubi returned from the US where he had gone for treatment recently, one of the people who visited him at his Nairobi home was Joho. Kirubi is also a close friend to opposition chief Raila Odinga.
