Uhuru has repeatedly vowed to slay the corruption menace before his exit and has as well sworn to deal with anyone implicated in the same, whoever they might be.

But speaking on Saturday, Mutura termed the threats as empty rhetoric never to be realized, adding that Uhuru might not see corruption convicts before his retirement in 2022.

He added that he pities the head of state who now seems desperate, while well aware that he cannot achieve anything with his hands tied.

"I really pity him because despite all the threats he will not leave any legacy behind with regards to the fight against corruption," he said.

Mutura was speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi political show on Saturday morning.

The ex-parliamentarian added that Uhuru is interfering where he should not, noting that the job of investigating, arresting, prosecuting and convicting suspects is nowhere near his docket.

According to the former Jubilee Party lawmaker, Uhuru's dream is being further frustrated by the investigative bodies which seem to have failed to furnish the courts with proper evidence.

"There are bodies constituted to independently handle these matters and the presidency is none of them.  Uhuru can only challenge the investigators to properly do their work to avoid corruption suspects slipping off," he added.

He also urged the President to intervene in clearing the backlog of cases in courts, some of which date back to ten or five years back.
