Migori Governor Zachary Okoth Obado has fought many political battles since he announced his bid for the Migori gubernatorial seat ahead of the 2013 general elections.
There’s no iota of doubt that he has won most of them; from winning his first term on a little known PDP party in 2013 to retaining his seat on the ODM party amid stiff competition last year.
But currently, Okoth Obado is fighting a war that is not political. He is being linked to the death of Sharon Beryl Otieno, who until her murder early this month was a second-year student at the Rongo University.
DNA report has confirmed that Governor Obado is the father of the child Sharon was carrying before her untimely death. She was seven months pregnant.
Reports indicate that Obado had already informed his close family members, among them his wife Helen Obado and their children that the university student was carrying his child.
That is perhaps why we have not seen any member of his family, more so his wife throwing tantrums about his relationship with the slain university girl.
On this one, he has won big time since his family is behind him. Investigations are still in top gear to ascertain the level of Obado’s link to the murder if any.
A trained teacher, Obado is facing the biggest test of his political life. Will he come out clean or will he go down? As always, only time will tell.
