Appearing before Makadara Chief Magistrate Heston Nyaga, Lydia Njeri pleaded guilty to drugging Peter Kilemi at a drinking joint and taking away his gun and two phones.

The court heard that Njeri committed the crime on January 6 2019, after inviting the officer for a drink and convincing him to drop her at a nearby stage, while pretending to be drunk.

The prosecution narrated how the two left Ndege View pub for the stage where the woman was to take a motorbike to her home, but the officer lost consciousness and parked his car by the roadside.

He reported the case to the police after waking up the next morning to find himself alone in the car with his gun and two smartphones missing, leading to a manhunt and the arrest of the accused.

The judge slapped the convict with 5 years imprisonment for being in possession of a firearm without licensing and two for stealing, without an option of a fine.

“Cases of women drugging and stealing from men are on the rise. Their work is to go to clubs and look for someone to drug and rob,” he said in his ruling.

In her defence, Njeri pleaded for leniency claiming that he stole the firearm without knowing what it was.

“When I realised that I had stolen a gun, I threw it in a pit latrine," she told the court.
