Former Mombasa County Senator Hassan Omar has tasted the nasty side of politics.
His decision, last year, to quit Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party for President Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee party earned him several political enemies.
Unfortunately, some of those who felt his decision to join Jubilee was wrong started personalized attacks and compared his body shape to that of socialite Vera Sidika. However, his response was sober.
When appearing on Jeff Koinage Live (JKL) show, Omar accused those who were concentrating on his body shape of lacking issue-based politics to discuss.
He alleged that National Super Alliance (NASA) was responsible for the picture that made the Kenyan oline community to make fun of him.
He even singled out the reaction (when he was mocked at a political rally) from Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi as being childish.
He requested not to be victimized for having a different opinion.
This was just the beginning of his battle with opposition supporters and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
Omar eventually lost his gubernatorial bid then decided to oppose the results in court. Joho’s victory was upheld and the former senator seems to have taken a break from public life.
