This comes only a few days after Hivisasa highlighted a story of Emmalin Karanja who had begun a campaign against gender-based violence

Some of the top models at the university also took the opportunity to commend Karanja for her bold move to fight violence through photography.

The ladies who were speaking to Hivisasa on Wednesday seemed to be angered by the rising cases of violence against women in the country.

They warned men who will be found engaging in gender-based violence against facing legal action.

“I’d, first of all, like to commend Emmalin Karanja for using photography to fight against gender-based violence. We have also joined the fight against violence on women. Not only is physical abuse against women retrogressive, but also illegal. Therefore, any man who will be found assaulting a woman will face the law as stipulated in the constitution,” Betty Obondo, a third-year student who is also the current Miss Culture at the institution noted.

The ladies also used the platform to advise women to report any physical abuse to the necessary authorities.

“Dear ladies, if you are being physically abused kindly report the matter to the necessary departments of the institution you are at. Don’t be afraid of anything. And to all the men out there, please take care of women. Don’t take advantage of a lady’s weakness to beat her,” Abigail Cheptoo, a second-year student stated.

This comes only a few weeks after the brutal murder of Ivy Wangeci who was a student at the Kesses-based institution.
